One of the best parts about running a Virtual Assistant Business is that you get to choose exactly how you want to run it, what services you offer, what hours you work, what days you work … the list goes on!

But when you are first starting out on your VA journey, the overload of information can feel a little overwhelming!

And that is exactly what I am here for, to make your journey less stressful and to help guide you in setting up your very own Virtual Assistant business

One of the first steps, is deciding what Virtual Assistant services you will offer.

Virtual Assistant Services

So what services can a virtual assistant offer? Well, there are literally hundreds! And so that begs the question, “where do I start”?

List of best virtual assistant services

1. What is your background?

A good starting point is to think about what experience and skills you have already that you can utilise in your own business and what industry you have worked in before.

Whether you have had a long and varied career, or you are straight out of university, there will be SO many transferrable skills that you already have.

Make a list of all the different types of tasks you have done in previous roles, and you can then start to connect the dots between those and different VA services.

2. Think about what you enjoy

It is not always just about the experiences you have had in your professional career. Maybe you were a PA in your last employed role, but actually you hated email and diary management and you absolutely love social media.

Start to write down all the things that you really enjoy doing, professionally and personally. Include your hobbies and interests as this can start to indicate a particular niche that you want to work with.

3. What are you good at?

Do you have any particular things that you are just really naturally good at? For example:

All of these types of skills that you can use in your day to day life can be totally transferable to a Virtual Assistant role.

So once you have thought about what you enjoy doing and what you are good at, now it’s time to see how this can translate into services you can offer.

Should I offer only in demand Virtual Assistant services?

If you Google “List of Virtual Assistant Services” you will find plenty of information out there on the services you can offer as a VA. What you will also find is articles on the most in-demand VA services or the best services to offer.

It certainly is one way to look at it by following the needs of the market, but make sure you take into consideration the tasks you enjoy doing from exercises 1-3 above. For example, it became even more popular to take minutes for meetings virtually when the pandemic hit – but if you wouldn’t enjoy taking minutes, then don’t offer it as a service just because it is seemingly popular.

There is a need for every VA service out there, so pick the ones you enjoy doing the most. Because after all, we set up our own businesses to be in control of the work we do and enjoy it.
